Mosquito Control
Mosquito populations in Iowa are determined primarily by the frequency and amount of rain that falls during the course of the spring, summer, and early fall. Mosquitoes have a complete life cycle of four stages: Egg > Larva > Pupa > Adult. The first three stages occur in standing water. The eggs hatch when exposed to water; the larvae ("wrigglers") feed and grow in water; pupae ("tumblers") remain in the water while they transform to the flying adult.
