Did you receive a hanging basket for Mother's Day? Many mothers (and others) will decorate their porches, decks, and other outdoor areas with hanging baskets this gardening season.
The fourlined plant bug is an occasional pest of flowers and other landscape plants in Iowa. The bugs are not picky eaters. They will feed on sap from over 250 different kinds of plants.

A foliar disease called leaf blister has been common on silver and red maples and their hybrids during the past few weeks. The causal agent is the fungus Taphrina carveri.
Mike White, ISU Extension Viticulture Specialist reported an interesting and confusing phenomenon found in vineyards this spring. He found semi-hard, pliable droplets attached to the stem.
