61st Annual Iowa State University Shade Tree Short Course

As perennial as the bur oak, and dependable as the tolling of the campanile on central campus, we again come to the time of year when arborists, nursery and landscape professionals, and tree lovers in general gather for the ISU Shade Tree Short Course

Now in its 61st year, the STSC continues the long-standing tradition of bringing tree experts to the ISU campus for 2-days of learning, networking, and good cheer.  As STSC participants have come to expect, the STSC is an eclectic assemblage of speakers and topics, some closely aligned with tree care, while others venture into areas slightly further afield.  For example, consider the keynote address given by Michael Angelo Caruso who will speak to ways we communicate, build our brand, and build trust with coworkers and clients.  A “people management” topic if ever there was one.  But “tree people” shouldn’t despair since there will be plenty of traditional fare to go around.  Topics dealing with blight-resistant American chestnut trees, Iowa’s big trees, landscape design, new plants, and old trees…and so much more.

So, whether you’re a STSC veteran or conference rookie, you will be similarly impressed with the menu of topics and speakers, and thrilled with the trade show managed by our partners in crime, the Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association and the Iowa Arborist Association.

It really is the social and educational event of the year for anyone wanting to learn more about trees and their maintenance requirements.  C’mon, you have nothing to lose!  See you February 22 and 23, 2017 at the Scheman Building, Iowa State Center, on the Iowa State University campus.  We’ll be waiting for you with hot coffee and a warm handshake.
