Welcome Erika to the Diagnostic Clinic!

We are pleased to welcome Erika Saalau to the ISU Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic. She joined the Clinic team on May 20 as our plant pathology specialist.   Erika will be working for both the clinic and the IPM program.

Erika hails from Costa Rica where she earned her bachelor's degree in Agronomy at the University of Costa Rica. She came to Iowa State University in 2008 and is completing her Ph.D. degree with a research focus on bacterial wilt pathogen transmission by cucumber beetles. Erika has been active with the ISU Extension Master Gardener program and commercial vegetable production field days and looks forward to interacting with Iowa's producers, gardeners and horticultural service providers to find answers and practical management alternatives to your plant disease problems.

Erika can be reached via the Plant & Insect Diagnostic Clinic website, phone (515-294-0581) or email (sickplant@iastate.edu).
